Some of Robert’s objectives as Mayor will include:

  • Major emphasis on reducing taxes without affecting services. High taxes also dramatically affect apartment rents
  • Working towards gradual removal & redevelopment of the CP Rail Yards to enhance security and expand CSL’s tax base
  • Ensuring the completion of the Cavendish extension, with a geometry that won’t compromise the character of the City
  • An audit into more efficient operations, heating and ventilation systems of City buildings to slash energy costs
  • Seeking ways to improve profitability of the Aquatic Centre which has put budgetary pressures on the City
  • Adding a second ice surface next to the arena to improve our hockey program
  • Improve the competitiveness of our inter-City sports programs
  • Systematic burying of power lines to avoid blackouts and reduce clutter of our urban streetscapes
  • Reorganizing the three year capital works program (PTI) regarding road repair and reconstruction
  • Better engineering for road surface repair so that cracks and the same potholes do not reoccur every year
  • Work for more diversity on City council to reflect the true face of the City and young families
  • Completion of Kirwan Park
  • Additional resources for the CSL Mens Club and the Community Garden
  • Ensure that snow removal operations are done efficiently and intelligently

Also, some creative programs and courses to be added …..

  • Seniors can sign up to have a Spring and Fall checkup for their homes, including turning their water on and off (bleeding pipes) for snowbirds
  • Memory tests and games to stimulate the seniors population
  • Mentoring, tutoring programs and internships for young people including how to navigate the forks in the road affecting their futures
  • Helping with social skills for special needs kids, such as ADHD
  • Monthly CSL Citizen of the month recognition
